We make videos for people trying to make things better.
Impact & Responsibility
That means we hold ourselves to the same standard we help our clients communicate.
Who we are
Patchbay Media is a small, mission-driven video agency working with organizations in health advocacy, clean energy, education, and civic causes. We operate across the US and the UK.
We’re in the process of certifying as a B Corp — not because it’s a marketing move, but because it gives us a framework to stay accountable to the things we say we care about.
Our Purpose
Our Commitments
01
Human Rights
We believe every person involved in our work deserves to be treated with dignity and respect: our team, our clients, the contractors we hire, and the communities whose stories we tell.
We uphold the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and we hold our contractors and partners to the same standard. Our contractor agreements include human rights and core labor standards as a formal requirement.
Specifically, we commit to
- Prohibiting child labor and forced labor anywhere in our operations or supply chain. When a minor takes part in our work — for instance, a young person sharing their own story on camera — we require verified guardian consent, keep an adult involved throughout, and follow any laws that apply to working with minors.
- Screening projects and clients before we take them on, to flag work that could cause harm to people, and declining or pausing anything that conflicts with these principles.
- Holding everyone who works with us to the same standards. Every contractor and creative partner agrees to our human-rights and core labor standards before working with us.
If you ever have a concern about how we’re operating, we want to hear about it. Share your thoughts to feedback@patchbaymedia.com.
02
Climate
As a small video company, our direct footprint is modest, but we take it seriously. The clients we work with are often on the front lines of the climate fight, and we want to walk the talk.
What we do
- Promote remote production. This eliminates the travel and on-location footprint traditional production requires.
- Hire locally when needed for location-based projects rather than flying crew.
- Champion work-from-anywhere policies, flexible working hours, active travel, and public transit. We have no company vehicles.
- All deliverables are digital: no physical media, packaging, or shipping.
Our goals
- Measure. By 31 December 2026, establish a per-project baseline of our business-travel and production-related emissions, tracked in a standard internal log.
- Offset. Beginning in 2027, offset 100% of our unavoidable business-travel emissions each year through a verified carbon-offset provider.
- Reduce. Lead with remote-first production and hire local crew on location-based shoots whenever a qualified local option exists.
- Report. Publish a climate progress update on this page every year as part of our annual governance review.
We’re also proud members of Clean Creatives — we don’t work with fossil fuel companies. That’s a line we’ve drawn and intend to keep.
03
Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Internally, that means applying a JEDI lens to how we hire, how we write our policies, and how we treat everyone who works with us. We follow the Oxfam Inclusive Language Guide in our internal and external communications.
Beyond our core team in the UK and US, we work with a global network of creative contractors — animators, illustrators, and editors across several countries, including the Netherlands, Mexico, and the Philippines. Our commitment to diverse perspectives shows up in our work, and we’re dedicated to creating opportunities for talented people wherever they’re based.
In our creative work, it means thinking carefully about representation, authentic voices, and avoiding stereotypes — and making content that’s genuinely accessible to everyone.
We hold our team and contractors to an internal Ethical Storytelling Guide that puts these principles into practice on every Patchbay Media project.
04
Accessibility
Impactful video should be available to everyone. We’re committed to producing content that meets accessibility standards — in our work this means captions, audio description, and color-contrast compliance.
For government and federally-funded projects, we deliver content that meets Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. But we bring that same care to everything we make, not just when it’s required.
06
Impact & Responsibility
A lot of our impact happens through the work itself.
We partner with nonprofits, advocates, agencies, and mission-driven teams to advance the causes they’re fighting for, turning their goals into video that reaches the people they need to move. We work across health, education, science, and the environment with organizations like:
Feedback & Grievances
We’re a small team and we try to stay genuinely open to feedback, both the good kind and the hard kind.
If you’re a client, contractor, collaborator, or community member and have a concern about anything we’re doing, email us. You can ask to stay anonymous, and we won’t retaliate against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
